Penryn Treasures Partnership

We believe in investing in our community and empowering its people. We don’t just hand out the cheques; we like to get involved on the ground. We seek to catalyse and invest not just our finance, but our time and skills into specific community groups over a period of time. For example:

Highway Community Centre

Highway Community Centre is the home of Highway Church, who have been working in the community for twenty years. The community centre is a base for Penryn & Falmouth Foodbank,  Acorns Parent & Toddler Group, ColourRiot, YouthSpace, Love Penryn & Helping Hands, who all aim to work together for the good of Penryn. There are many partnerships and collaborations amongst these groups; we seek to serve a whole that is stronger than the sum of its parts.

Helping Hands Penryn

Helping Hands Penryn is a Community Interest Company that is committed to helping vulnerable, elderly and those on low incomes within the community of Penryn and surrounding areas. The purpose of Helping Hands is to break down the barriers of finance and physical and mental health problems, which can restrict those affected from being able to maintain their homes and gardens.

We provide a friendly caring handyman service to those most at need. This can be anything from an irritating light bulb, or hanging curtains, to larger jobs such as painting, decorating and gardening, from lawn mowing to general day-to-day garden maintenance. It would be offered via a referral process which would help us to identify those most at need.

Love Penryn

Love Penryn engages with residents within the community in which they live. A team of volunteers from Love Penryn will carry out improvement projects such as tidying parks, gardening, removing graffiti, painting and so much more. These events will take place throughout the year and work in partnership with Helping Hands. In the future there will be opportunities for those within the town to get on board and become part of the volunteer team making a difference in their local community.

ColourRiot aims to provide a place where everyone can contribute, be they builder or painter, in an evolving set of creative opportunities in a friendly environment, including workshops, larger community based projects, celebrations and skill-set training, based at the Highway Community Centre in Penryn.

We aim to help you realise the unique potential you have to make a difference in the lives of friends, families and the community.

Acorns Parent & Toddler Group

Run by local mums, Acorns provides play sessions for children (0-5 years) at the Community Centre, and an opportunity for parents to connect with each other.

At Acorns there is a free play area with ball pool, climbing frame, tunnels and slides; a baby area, role play area with toy kitchens, babies and prams; small play with cars, roads, garages, trains and tracks; and arts and crafts opportunties. The sessions are informal, but they encourage everyone to join in with parachute games, snack time and song time.

For the grown ups the Coffee Bar is open throughout the session selling a wide range of hot drinks and a selection of biscuits and cakes!
